Cebu City Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia attended an orientation on mushroom cultivation organized by the Department for the Welfare of the Urban Poor (DWUP) in Poblacion Pardo. The program aims to equip residents with skills for sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The orientation, held at the DWUP community center, included hands-on training in mushroom farming, covering substrate preparation, inoculation, and harvesting techniques. This initiative is part of the city government’s broader efforts to provide practical, income-generating solutions for urban poor communities.
Mayor Garcia emphasized the program’s potential to improve economic prospects for residents in areas with limited space for traditional farming. The initiative aligns with Cebu City’s goals of promoting sustainability and addressing the livelihood challenges of urban communities.
