Mayor John Dalipe on November 22 recognized the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) for recent breakthroughs in crime resolution and drug enforcement, awarding a total of ₱ 300, 000 in cash rewards to officers involved in high-profile arrests and a drug seizure.
During a press conference at the ZCPO conference room, Mayor Dalipe commended the efforts of Police Station 1, Police Station 9, and the City Drug Enforcement Unit, each receiving ₱ 100, 000. He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to supporting law enforcement in their fight against criminality and the illegal drug trade.
Among the key accomplishments highlighted was the apprehension of two suspects involved in separate shooting incidents earlier this year. The suspects, whose identities remain undisclosed, were presented to the media by Col. Kimberly Molitas, the city police director.
One suspect was identified as the alleged gunman in the March 15 shooting in Sitio Log Pond, Barangay Tictapul, and was apprehended by Police Station 1 operatives. The other suspect, implicated in the April 9 shooting at Calle Sto. Niño, Zone 7, Barangay Ayala, was captured by officers from Police Station 9.
Col. Molitas reported that these arrests brought the total number of shooting suspects apprehended this year to 33, with three additional cases still under investigation. She credited the city government’s continued support as a key factor in achieving these milestones.
“This unprecedented success in curbing criminality is the result of a collaborative effort among law enforcement agencies, barangay officials, and the community. This whole-of-a-city approach has been instrumental in advancing our anti-crime initiatives, including the intensified campaign against illegal drugs,” Molitas stated.
The ZCPO vowed to maintain its momentum in combating crime and ensuring peace and order in the city, with continued reliance on cooperation from all sectors of the community.
