Marcos signs law establishing five new courts in Batangas

By Matthew Go

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has signed Republic Act 12114, creating five additional regional trial court (RTC) branches in Batangas, according to official reports.

The law, enacted on December 13, establishes four RTC branches in Rosario, Batangas, and one RTC branch in San Juan, Batangas. All five branches will operate under the Fourth Judicial Region.

The legislation mandates the Supreme Court to assign branch numbers to the newly created courts. Additionally, 81 new positions will be established to support the operations of these courts and the Office of the Clerk of Court in Batangas.

Republic Act 12114 aims to address the growing demand for judicial services in the province, where caseloads have steadily increased in recent years.
