The Mandaue City Public Information Office (PIO) announced the rollout of a door-to-door cash aid distribution program for senior citizens, aimed at addressing accessibility challenges faced by the elderly in obtaining government assistance.
Under the program, which began earlier this month, each eligible senior citizen will receive P5, 000 as part of the second tranche of the city’s social aid initiative. This amount represents an increase from the P4, 000 distributed during the first tranche in April 2024.
The door-to-door distribution method ensures that cash aid reaches senior citizens directly at their homes, eliminating the need for travel to distribution centers, which can be difficult for individuals with limited mobility or health issues.
The local government has adopted this approach to address barriers such as inadequate transportation, chronic health conditions, and physical limitations that hinder many elderly residents from accessing financial aid.
According to the PIO, the second tranche of cash assistance aims to help senior citizens cope with rising living costs and ongoing financial challenges. The program prioritizes efficiency and accessibility while ensuring that the elderly population receives the support they need in a timely manner.
This initiative is expected to streamline the distribution process, reducing crowd congestion at central distribution sites and lowering the risks of fraud or errors by verifying beneficiaries’ identities directly at their residences.
