A 33-year-old man was arrested during a buy-bust operation conducted by law enforcement authorities in Purok Anahaw, Barangay Magay, on Friday afternoon. The operation was part of ongoing efforts to combat the illegal drug trade in northern Cebu.
The suspect, whose name has not been disclosed pending formal charges, was apprehended at approximately 3:30 PMafter allegedly selling a packet of shabu (methamphetamine) to an undercover police officer. The transaction led to the immediate arrest of the suspect, who did not resist during the operation.
Authorities seized an unspecified quantity of shabu, drug paraphernalia, and cash believed to be proceeds from illegal drug activities. The drugs confiscated are estimated to hold a significant street value, according to police.
Police Captain Roberto G. Vicente, head of the Compostela Police Station, stated that the operation followed weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering based on reports of the suspect’s involvement in the local drug trade.
The arrest is part of a broader initiative by law enforcement to target drug activities in Cebu, particularly in northern municipalities. Recent months have seen an increase in anti-drug operations in the region, focusing on dismantling local drug syndicates and reducing the availability of illegal substances.
Authorities continue to ramp up efforts to address drug-related offenses in the area, emphasizing surveillance, intelligence-based operations, and community cooperation to curb the proliferation of illegal drugs.
