Malaybalay City in Bukidnon officially began its holiday celebrations with the lighting of the Christmas display at the Malaybalay City Public Plaza on December 6, 2024.

The event, organized by the local government and supported by the Malaybalay City Tourism Office, drew thousands of residents and visitors to the plaza, which was transformed into a festive showcase of lights and decorations.

This year’s theme, “Glimmer of Hope,” highlights resilience and unity in the Bukidnon community. The display features thousands of lights, sparkling arches, and life-sized Christmas decorations, offering visitors a festive atmosphere.

In addition to the lighting display, the month-long celebration includes Christmas carol performances by local choirs, street dances, a Christmas bazaar showcasing locally made products, and a Santa’s grotto for children.

The lights will remain illuminated until the first week of January 2025, providing a central location for locals and tourists to enjoy the holiday atmosphere.

Malaybalay City, known for its cool climate and scenic landscapes, uses the annual Christmas lights display to bring the community together and promote local tourism. The event also boosts local businesses during the peak holiday season, with increased foot traffic to shops, restaurants, and hotels in the area.

The Malaybalay City Public Plaza, a historic landmark, serves as the focal point of the city’s celebrations, reinforcing its role as a gathering space for cultural and social events in Bukidnon.
