MALASIQUI—The inaugural Pagey Festival in Malasiqui kicked off January 17  until January 26, replacing the previous Kirmat Festivbal and introducing a new identity for the town.

Municipal Mayor Alfe Soriano included  a Street Dance Competition on January 22, which featured a parade followed by a contest,  consisting of nine  clusters of dancers  from 73 barangays will compete, with the winner bringing home  the grand prize of ₱300,000.

“This was the first time that the Pagey Festival was held in place of the Kirmat Festival, to emphasize pagey or rice, the main product and livelihood of the people of Malasiqui,” Soriano intoned.

Apart from this, the Miss Malasiqui pageant is also expected on January 23, coinciding with the festival offered in homage to Patron Saint Ildefonsus.
