Malabon MDRRMO conducts first-aid, flood response training for teachers

The Malabon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) conducted a Flood Incident Response Safety Training (F.I.R.S.T.) and Standard First Aid with Basic Life Support (BLS) courses for local teachers on November 6, 2024. The training, held at the City of Malabon University Hall, was attended by Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) focal persons from schools across the city.

Led by Portivillar Bulfa Jr. and Jacqueline Ynchausti from the Philippine Red Cross – Malabon City Chapter, the sessions aimed to provide teachers with essential emergency response skills. Topics covered included Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), first aid procedures, and techniques for managing flood-related emergencies.

The training is part of Malabon’s ongoing efforts to prepare school personnel for disaster situations. By equipping teachers with the knowledge and skills to handle emergencies, including performing CPR and basic first aid, the city hopes to ensure the safety and well-being of students in the event of a crisis.

This initiative is in line with the city’s broader disaster preparedness programs aimed at strengthening the community’s ability to respond to natural disasters. Further sessions are planned to extend this training to more teachers and school staff across Malabon.
