A magnitude 5.0 earthquake occurred southwest of Calatagan, Batangas, on Tuesday. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported that the earthquake struck at 5:25 PM, with a depth of 133 kilometers.
The earthquake was of tectonic origin and registered at Intensity II in Paluan, Mamburao, and Sta. Cruz, located in Occidental Mindoro province.
Phivolcs classified the earthquake as strong, noting that no damage is anticipated.
