Los Baños housing project to benefit 2,100 families

The Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) has launched a housing project for more than 2,100 families in Los Baños, Laguna, under the government’s flagship Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program (4PH).

The Bagong Los Baños Residences, a vertical housing development located in Barangay Anos, was inaugurated on November 27. The initiative is part of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s efforts to address the housing backlog in the Philippines and provide quality homes for Filipinos.

The project aims to benefit families from danger zones, informal settler communities, and local government employees.

SHFC President and CEO Federico Laxa said the housing site is strategically located near schools, hospitals, and commercial establishments to ensure accessibility and convenience for residents.

“We deliberately choose locations that are near essential amenities,” Laxa said, adding that the initiative underwent thorough planning to go beyond conventional socialized housing. “This is a community equipped with modern amenities to ensure a high standard of living,” he added.

Los Baños Mayor Anthony Genuino described the project as a “dream come true” for residents and a legacy of hope and progress.

“It symbolizes hope and progress and will stand as a legacy for future generations,” Genuino said during the groundbreaking ceremony.

Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Regional Office IV-A Director Jean Paul Ilao, speaking on behalf of DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar, also attended the event. Ilao emphasized the importance of the 4PH initiative in addressing the national housing deficit.

The Bagong Los Baños Residences is one of 12 SHFC-led projects under the 4PH initiative. Other developments include Crystal Peak Estates in Pampanga, People’s Ville in Davao City, and Valley View Township in Misamis Oriental.

SHFC officials noted that the agency is working on 111 “shovel-ready” projects nationwide, aiming to deliver over 505,000 housing units by 2028.
