Las Piñas City Council reviews community programs, infrastructure projects on 110th regular session

The Las Piñas City Council, led by Vice Mayor April Aguilar, convened for its 110th regular session on December 2, with the agenda of “advancing community programs and infrastructure initiatives.”

During the session, the council reviewed Supplemental Budget No. 3 for 2024 under the Special Education Fund (SEF), which included a resolution allocating ₱2 million to cover Maynilad utility bills for public schools and the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) program for November and December 2024. This funding will be reallocated from existing budget provisions, as certified by the City Treasurer.

Key reports from the Joint Committees on Health and Social Services and Laws, Rules, and Privileges included the approval of a draft ordinance establishing a Community-Based Mental Health Program and Delivery System. This initiative aims to improve mental health services and support for the residents of Las Piñas.

The council also ratified various infrastructure projects, including the construction of a three-storey daycare center in Barangay Talon Singko, the Las Piñas City Manpower Training Center in Barangay Talon Dos, and repairs to several school buildings across the city.

New projects were also approved including a drainage system in Barangay Pulanglupa Uno and asphalt overlays along BF Resort Drive in Barangay Talon Dos.

The council also addressed several requests from taxpayers seeking the waiver of penalties and interest on business and transfer taxes, referring these matters to the Committee on Appropriations and Ways & Means for further review and recommendations.
