VITRO Sta. Rosa (VSR), the Philippines’ most advanced hyperscale data center, has officially been energized and is now operational, marking a major milestone in meeting the rising demand for cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI)-driven solutions.

The activation of Meralco’s 115kV Switching Station in Sta. Rosa signals the start of operations, enabling clients to set up their equipment. Several telecom providers and enterprises have already established their points of presence (POPs) at the facility, which is projected to deliver 20 megawatts of IT power by the end of the year, with 35 percent sourced from renewable energy.

VSR’s design features energy-efficient cooling systems and power redundancy, making it well-suited for AI workloads and large-scale computing needs. Victor Genuino, president and CEO of ePLDT and VITRO Inc., emphasized that VSR is now “AI-ready,” designed to support generative AI, large language models, and other high-performance applications.

The data center is built to achieve a Rated-3 certification and is Rated-4 ready, ensuring top-tier network resilience. It offers a minimum of three fiber routes from PLDT and other telecom providers, ensuring high availability and network diversity.

The energization of VSR highlights the Philippines’ growing role as a digital hub in the Asia Pacific, attracting cloud and AI companies seeking to expand in the region.
