Kennon Road now open to light vehicles

MANILA – Kennon Road is now open to light vehicles after it was temporarily closed to traffic due to a fire on New Year’s Day, the Department of Works and Highways (DPWH) reported Thursday.

In an advisory, the DPWH-Cordillera reported that the national road is open to light vehicles only.

“As of 9 p.m. yesterday, January 1, 2025, Kennon Road has been opened to traffic following the clearing of debris due to the recent fire at Camp 6, Tuba, Benguet,” it said.

Heavy vehicles were advised to take Marcos Highway and the Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual-La Union Boundary Road as alternate routes.

The road was temporarily closed to expedite the clearing of debris resulting from the fire that killed one person and destroyed around 26 houses and a church.

Kennon Road is among the highways leading to Baguio City and other areas in the region. (PNA)
