Julian watch: PBBM says food packs being prepared; healthcare ready

MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday assured the public the government is closely monitoring the movement of Typhoon Julian as it strengthens while battering northern Luzon.

“Thousands of family food packs are now being prepared, healthcare centers are on high alert, and our farmers and fisherfolk are taking steps to safeguard their livelihoods,” Marcos said during the inauguration of the StB Giga Factory in Capas, Tarlac.

“They are — Typhoon Julian is going to pass north of the Philippines. So, those in Regions 1 (Ilocos), 2 (Cagayan Valley), and (Central Luzon) as well as NCR (National Capital Region) and CAR (Cordillera Administrative Region) — know that we are not just talking about resilience; we are making it happen,” he added.

In a media interview after the event, Marcos said the government is preparing for the further intensification of Typhoon Julian.

Julian was last tracked over the coastal waters of Sabtang Island, Batanes.

Wind signal as high as No. 4 has been hoisted as Julian drenches Regions 1, 2, and 3 as well as the Cordillera Region. (PNA)
