Jonvic Remulla next DILG chief as Abalos seeks Senate seat

MANILA – Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla is set to take over the helm of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Remulla will take his oath before President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday morning, Communications Secretary Cesar Chavez told reporters.

Remulla will replace Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos who will run for senator in the 2025 midterm elections.

He served as governor of Cavite since 2019, a position he also held from 2010-2016.

Likewise, he served as the vice governor and as a member of the Cavite Provincial Board.

Jonvic’s brother, Jesus Crispin, is the current secretary of the Department of Justice. (PNA)
