Iloilo City council approves PHP4.2-B 2025 budget

The Sanggunian Panlungsod has approved a landmark PHP4.2 billion budget for Iloilo City in 2025, reflecting a 14.83% increase from this year’s PHP3.6 billion allocation. The budget includes PHP4.13 billion for the executive budget and PHP81.95 million for the special account of the Local Economic Enterprise Office.

The increase is attributed to a significant rise in the National Tax Allotment (NTA), projected at PHP1.71 billion for 2025, up from PHP1.45 billion this year. This comes amidst reduced expectations from local revenue sources, such as real property taxes.

The budget breakdown allocates 48% to general services for administrative, financial, planning, and legislative needs; 25% to social services; 15% to economic services; and 12% to other services.

Mayor Jerry Treñas lauded the council’s efforts, emphasizing that the early approval would enable timely procurement processes and on-schedule implementation of projects and programs. This proactive measure, he noted, would enhance efficiency and maximize the impact of government spending for the benefit of Iloilo City residents.

“The decision reflects the dedication and collaboration of our City Council and stakeholders in prioritizing the needs of our beloved Ilonggos,” Mayor Treñas said.
