Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia has encouraged all 51 Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federations across the province to assist with the Capitol’s revitalized school feeding initiative. Speaking at a meeting at the Capitol Social Hall on October 29, the Governor urged SK Federation presidents, led by SK Provincial Federation President and ex-officio Board Member Loren Singco, to take an active role in meal preparations for local students.

“This is a program focused on youth, so I ask each SK Federation President to support our school feeding initiative,” Governor Garcia said, emphasizing the importance of youth involvement in community programs.

The announcement follows the province-wide launch of the Sugbo School Feeding Program Season 2 on October 28, held at Basdiot Elementary School in Moalboal. Through the program, the Capitol will distribute rice to 1, 517 public schools across Cebu Province, benefiting over 966, 000 students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. The feeding program, organized in collaboration with the Parent-Teacher Association, will provide meals every school day throughout the academic year.

The program has garnered significant private sector support. San Miguel Foods has donated 10,000 kilograms of Magnolia chicken, Century Pacific has contributed 48, 720 cans of Argentina beef loaf, Globe Telecom has pledged ₱1 million worth of rice, and the Bureau of Customs Port of Cebu has provided 300 sacks of rice.
