Grandfather and two grandchildren die in Rizal house fire

By Matthew Go

A house fire in Teresa, Rizal, claimed the lives of a 74-year-old man and his two grandchildren in the early hours of November 2, authorities reported.

The victims, identified as Eduardo Bataluna and his grandchildren, aged 12 and 5, were found dead inside their home after the blaze. Firefighters, who arrived shortly after the fire began, contained the flames within 30 minutes.

Initial investigations suggest an electrical malfunction may have caused the fire, which spread rapidly due to the house’s wooden construction. Officials are reminding residents to check electrical wiring and install smoke detectors to prevent similar incidents.
