Governor Gwendolyn “Gwen” Garcia hosted a dinner on November 7, 2024, at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino as part of the 2024 Summit on Children. The event brought together government officials, child welfare advocates, educators, and youth leaders to discuss issues affecting children in Cebu.
The Summit on Children is an annual event that addresses key issues such as education, healthcare, child protection, and mental health. Governor Garcia used the dinner to strengthen partnerships and recognize progress in improving the lives of young people in the province.
Governor Garcia has been an advocate for child welfare, with a focus on improving education, health, safety, and sustainable development for children in Cebu. Her administration has implemented programs aimed at meeting the comprehensive needs of children.
The event included presentations from specialists in pediatric health, social services, education, and law, with the dinner serving as a platform for collaboration among organizations supporting children’s rights.
The initiatives discussed at the summit align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 4, which advocates for inclusive, equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all.
