The Fraternal Order of Eagles (CDO Pillars Eagles Club) and the Rotary Club of Golden Friendship joined forces to provide essential aid to persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the City Jail in Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro. The community service initiative aimed to address basic needs and promote dignity among detainees.
Over 300 hygiene kits containing soap, toothpaste, towels, and other essentials were distributed to the PDLs during the event. Volunteers from both organizations emphasized the importance of maintaining proper hygiene in detention facilities to safeguard health and well-being.
The project was spearheaded by Kuya Al Anthony Nadela, President of the CDO Pillars Eagles Club, and supported by members of both civic groups. The activity reflects their commitment to addressing the needs of marginalized populations and fostering community involvement.
The Fraternal Order of Eagles, founded in 1963, is a civic organization focused on social welfare and community development. The Rotary Club of Golden Friendship similarly prioritizes initiatives that improve health, education, and quality of life for vulnerable groups.
Hygiene is a critical concern in detention facilities, where overcrowding often exacerbates health risks. The distribution of hygiene kits is part of broader efforts to ensure that PDLs receive adequate care and support.
Both organizations have expressed plans to continue their collaborative outreach efforts, with future projects aimed at addressing other needs of disadvantaged groups in Cagayan de Oro.
