Flooding in Laguna village leads to health issues among residents

By Matthew Go

Health problems are on the rise in Barangay Landayan, San Pedro, Laguna, where prolonged flooding has persisted for more than two weeks due to recent tropical cyclones.

Heavy siltation in Laguna Lake has worsened flooding in the area, submerging neighborhoods in waist-deep water. Residents are experiencing skin infections and stomach ailments as they navigate foul-smelling, stagnant water using makeshift rafts.

Over 100 families have sought refuge in evacuation centers, while barangay officials work with health authorities to provide medical aid and explore long-term flood control measures.
