The Manila South Cemetery is in the final stages of preparation for Undas, expecting an influx of around 500, 000 visitors on All Saints’ Day. Officer-in-Charge Henry Vulcan Dy shared in a recent interview that significant crowds are anticipated as families visit loved ones. The cemetery has organized various logistical measures, including the installation of security checkpoints, the deployment of police officers, and the setup of assistance desks to help manage the crowds and ensure safety for all attendees.
To support this influx, Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna announced free e-trike rides for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and pregnant women visiting the cemetery. The city’s Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office will also have standby ambulances and medical personnel on-site, while other city offices, including the Health Department, are on alert for any emergencies. With these measures in place, Manila South Cemetery is set to accommodate the expected large crowds, ensuring a safe and organized observance of the tradition.
