Female high value target yields P5-M shabu in Taguig

MANILA – A female high-value target yielded some PHP4.8 million worth of shabu in a sting operation in Taguig City, the local police said Thursday.

In a statement, Taguig City Police Station (TCPS) chief Col. Joey Goforth said the suspect Sherhana Hatae, 33, a resident of Guadalupe, Makati City, was nabbed in a buy-bust in Barangay South Signal at about 11:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Seized from the suspect were three knot-tied plastic bags containing 708.5 grams of shabu and buy-bust money.

The operation is the latest in a string of successful buy-busts by the TCPS, which has consistently demonstrated its commitment to combating illegal drugs.

In August 2024, the station earned national recognition on the celebration of the 123rd Police Service Anniversary as the national winner after achieving a record of over 1,700 drug-related arrests.

In June of the same year, the local police nabbed Joel Tiñga, a known drug dealer in the city and a member of the Tiñga drug syndicate.

Meanwhile, the Police Regional Office in Central Luzon (PRO3) has seized PHP12.7 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 343 drug suspects in 11-day operations across the region.

In a statement Thursday, PRO3 chief Brig. Jean. Fajardo said this amount was seized in 229 operations from January 10 to 21.

The arrested suspects include 17 high-value individuals, she added.

The confiscated narcotics include 1.85 kg. of shabu and 751 grams of marijuana.

“These arrests are a strong message to drug syndicates that we will not relent in our fight against illegal drugs. We are intensifying our collaboration with local government units, communities, and other law enforcement agencies to ensure that these illegal substances do not reach our streets,” Fajardo added. (PNA)
