A father was arrested after allegedly killing his 24-year-old son, Christian Caparida Basalo, during an argument in Barangay Cogon, Naga City, on Saturday afternoon.

The suspect, 45-year-old Rene Boy Basalo, reportedly struck his son in the neck with a machete, causing fatal injuries. Authorities were alerted by neighbors, who discovered Christian’s body in a pool of blood at the family residence.

Eyewitnesses said the argument between father and son escalated rapidly, and Rene allegedly grabbed the machete during the dispute.

Rene is currently in police custody and facing charges for the incident. The reasons for the argument remain unclear, but it is believed the father and son had been experiencing ongoing tensions.

The case is under investigation by local authorities.
