MANILA – The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Thursday ordered its attached agencies to ensure that passengers are given “preferential, comfortable, affordable, safe, secure, and accessible” service during the “Undas” season.
In a statement, DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista said Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Undas 2024 is meant to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers who will flock to transportation hubs across the country — be it in the aviation, maritime, road, or railway sectors.
“Every peak season mayroon kaming Oplan Biyaheng Ayos. Ang objective natin dito ay mabigyan ang mga pasahero ng casa service (There is an Oplan Biyaheng Ayos every peak season. Our objective here is to give every passenger great service),” Bautista said.
The DOTr is working with the Philippine National Police, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the management of transport terminals such as the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange to ensure the safety of passengers.
As passengers going to the provinces are expected to increase, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has issued 298 special permits for 796 buses.
LTFRB chair Teofilo Guadiz III said more special permits would be issued if necessary. (PNA)
