Thousands of residents and visitors gathered at Pantawan People’s Park on November 24, 2024, for the Duma Music Festival, a key event in the celebration of Dumaguete City’s 76th Charter Anniversary. The festival brought together local and renowned musical talents in a night of entertainment and cultural appreciation.
The festival featured performances by singer-songwriter TJ Monterde, known for hits like “Ikaw at Ako” and “Sana Tayo Na,” alongside other local artists who showcased a blend of contemporary, indie, and traditional Filipino music. The event highlighted the city’s vibrant arts scene and provided a platform for emerging talent.
Dumaguete City, known as the “City of Gentle People,” is celebrated for its cultural and historical significance, with the festival reflecting its rich heritage. The city, home to institutions like Silliman University, has long been a hub for education and the arts.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, who spearheaded the event, emphasized the importance of cultural celebrations in uniting the community and promoting tourism. The Duma Music Festival continues to be a highlight of Dumaguete’s annual Charter Anniversary festivities, underscoring the city’s enduring commitment to arts and culture.
