MANILA – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Wednesday reported that it has already released more than PHP9 million worth of humanitarian assistance for the families affected by Super Typhoon Julian.
“The DSWD has already provided PHP9.078 million in relief aid to the Ilocos and Cagayan Valley Regions as well as to the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR),” DSWD Assistant Secretary for External Assistance and Development Juan Carlo Marquez said in a news release.
“The agency’s Disaster Response Management Group and concerned Field Offices remain in close coordination with counterparts in affected local government units (LGUs) since there are displaced locals who are still staying in evacuation centers in the three affected regions,” the agency’s co-spokesperson said.
As of press time, some 667 families or 2, 230 persons are currently staying in 55 evacuation centers in Regions 1, 2 and CAR.
“Rest assured that the DSWD, under the guidance of Secretary Rex Gatchalian, is on top of the situation. We will continue to help affected families until they return to their normal lives,” Marquez said. (PNA)
