Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon conducted an on-site inspection of the ongoing Wawa Bridge project in Barangay Wawa on March 23, 2026, alongside Deputy Speaker Rachel Arenas.

The visit followed the recommendation and coordination efforts of Bayambang Mayor Niña Jose-Quiambao.

Also present during the inspection was Special Assistant to the Mayor and former mayor Cezar Quiambao, who continues to support infrastructure development initiatives in the municipality.

During a meeting held after the inspection, Dizon, Arenas, and local government officials discussed the technical aspects and current status of the bridge’s construction. Attendees included members of the Sangguniang Bayan and other local officials such as Vice Mayor Ian Camille Sabangan and Board Member Raul Sabangan.

Local officials emphasized the importance of sustained coordination with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to expedite the construction of both the temporary bridge and the new Wawa Bridge.

It can be recalled that during a North Luzon Quadrangle meeting two years ago, Third District Representative Arenas raised concerns regarding the assurance of completing the reconstruction of the damaged Wawa Bridge. At the time, the DPWH regional director confirmed that funding had already been allocated for the project.

The bridge project aims to improve traffic flow, boost local trade, and enhance public access to essential social services.
