DOH warns public on health risks of Taal’s phreatic acrivity

MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) has advised individuals residing near Taal Volcano against the health risks posed by its phreatic activity.

In a statement on Wednesday, the DOH said Taal emitted smoke in the past hours which resulted in cloudy skies on top of the volcano.

The alert status remains at level 1.

Ang mahina ngunit aktibong phreatic activity ay sanhi ng patuloy na paglabas ng mainit na volcanic gas mula sa pangunahing bunganga ng bulkan (The weak but active phreatic activities is caused by the continuous release of volcanic gas from the primary crater of the volcano),” the DOH said.

The agency said there is a possibility of magnetic eruption with the current level of volcanic tremors and earth movement.

Kung kaya’t pinag-iingat ang lahat partikular na ang mga nasa Permanent Danger Zone ng Taal (Everyone is advised to be cautious especially to those in the Permanent Danger Zone of Taal),” it said. (PNA)
