For over a century, the presidents of the Philippines have been pivotal in shaping the nation’s identity, navigating through periods of triumph and adversity. From General Emilio Aguinaldo, who first declared the nation’s independence in 1898, to the current administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., each leader has left an enduring imprint on the political, social, and economic fabric of the country. Their legacies offer profound insights into the Philippines’ evolution, reflecting the nation’s aspirations, struggles, and resilience. These presidential contributions are preserved and honored within the iconic Malacañang Palace grounds, the seat of Philippine power.
While many are well-versed in the country’s landmarks, traditional cuisines, and national heroes like Jose Rizal and Andres Bonifacio, there is much more to uncover about the presidents—figures who have played pivotal roles in directing the nation’s course since 1897. The Malacañang Heritage Tour, inaugurated in May 2023 by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., invites visitors to dive deeper into the lives and legacies of these national leaders.
This free guided tour offers an exclusive look at the memorabilia, personal items, and relics from the country’s presidents, spanning from Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo to the present. It’s part of a broader initiative to rekindle public interest in the stories of the country’s presidents and the historical significance of their leadership.
The Malacañang Heritage Tour includes visits to three historical structures within the palace compound: Bahay Ugnayan, Teus Mansion, and the Goldenberg Mansion. At Bahay Ugnayan, visitors and museum enthusiasts can witness President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s journey to the presidency. Teus Mansion holds memorabilia from past Philippine presidents, previously housed in the Kalayaan Hall presidential museum and library, giving guests a glimpse of the personal lives and leadership styles of the nation’s former leaders. Meanwhile, the century-old Goldenberg Mansion, rich in its own history, has been restored and is now commercially available for private events.
The tour, which takes only a few hours, offers a rich and engaging walk through the nation’s history. It runs from Tuesday to Sunday, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., and walk-ins are welcome. For those eager to learn more about the Philippines’ leadership legacy, arranging a guided tour is simple—just visit museums.gov.ph and submit a tour request.
