DHSUD to provide cash aid, construction materials to typhoon victims

MANILA – The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) is ramping up efforts to aid families and households affected by the recent string of tropical cyclones in the country.

At the Bagong Pilipinas briefing on Monday, DHSUD Undersecretary for Disaster Response Administrative and Finance Services Randy Escolango said they have intensified efforts to immediately provide relief to homeowners whose properties had been damaged or destroyed by the storms through the Integrated Disaster Shelter Assistance Program (IDSAP) and Housing Materials and Essentials (HOMES).

“Naka-focus po talaga kami dito sa mga shelter assistance nung ating mga kababayang tinamaan sa kalamidad  at nasira iyong kanilang tahanan (We are really focused on shelter assistance for those who were victims of calamities that damaged their homes),” he said.

Under the IDSAP program, homes that were partially damaged by the storms will get PHP 10, 000 cash assistance and homes that were completely destroyed will receive PHP 30, 000.

Escolango said that aside from IDSAP, the agency also provides home materials and essentials to victims of natural disasters. (PNA)
