The Department of Education – Schools Division of Dagupan City has assured the public of its full cooperation with authorities following a law enforcement operation involving a public school teacher of Dagupan accused of violating child protection laws.
In an official statement released Wednesday, Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Rowena Banzon confirmed that the incident involves an alleged violation of Republic Act No. 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.
The Schools Division Office emphasized that the Department of Education (DepEd) remains committed to safeguarding the welfare, safety, and well-being of all learners, stressing that student protection continues to be its highest priority.
“The Department of Education – Dagupan City maintains a zero-tolerance policy against any form of child abuse, exploitation, violence, or misconduct within our schools,” the statement read.
While acknowledging the ongoing legal proceedings, DepEd Dagupan said it respects due process and the presumption of innocence guaranteed under the law. The division office added that it will cooperate fully with investigating authorities while conducting appropriate administrative proceedings in accordance with DepEd policies and civil service regulations.
Education officials also reminded both teaching and non-teaching personnel of their responsibility to uphold not only the academic development of students but also their protection and moral guidance.
“Any act that compromises the dignity, rights, and safety of our students is taken with utmost seriousness,” the division office said.
DepEd Dagupan likewise called on parents, guardians, and community members to continue working with schools in promoting safe, child-friendly, and nurturing learning environments.
The agency reiterated its commitment to ensuring that schools remain safe spaces where every learner is protected, respected, and empowered while the investigation into the incident continues.
