Damaged Navotas dikes highlight vulnerability after Typhoon

The Navotas City government reported on October 28 that several coastal dikes remain damaged following Typhoon Kristine. Mayor John Rey Tiangco noted that some ships ran aground during the storm, causing damage to the dikes, with repairs awaiting favorable sea conditions.

Tiangco emphasized the importance of the coastal dikes in flood prevention, particularly during heavy rains and high tides. These dikes are crucial for protecting low-lying areas from seawater intrusion, reducing the risk of property damage and safeguarding the safety of residents. The mayor called on vessel operators to repair the damage caused by their ships.
