DA launches ACED services in bid to boost agri output

MANILA – The Department of Agriculture (DA) has established the Agricultural Cooperative Enterprise Development (ACED) Services to provide comprehensive support to agricultural groups and enhance their productivity.

DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. emphasized the importance of transforming and consolidating farmers’ cooperatives and associations in improving the livelihoods of the agricultural community. He stated that ACED will play a crucial role in achieving the administration’s food security targets.

ACED will formulate policies and plans for agricultural cooperatives, monitor progress and project implementations, streamline operations, and address development gaps. In collaboration with government and private agencies, ACED will also provide training programs and promote digital advancements, such as data analytics, online marketplaces, and climate adaptation tools.

Secretary Laurel highlighted the significance of ACED in enhancing farmers’ and fishermen’s livelihoods. By fostering increased income, adopting modern farming technologies, and promoting food security and agricultural exports, ACED aims to contribute to a more productive and sustainable agricultural sector.

The ACED Services will be operated in all central and regional offices under the supervision of Undersecretary for Operations Roger Navarro.
