BAGUIO CITY – The Cordillera Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (CDRRMC) assured residents it is ready to deal with Typhoon Pepito (international name Man-yi), although it is forecast to hit the Bicol Region on Saturday.
In a video message posted on the Civil Defense Cordillera Facebook page Friday afternoon, CDRRMC chair and Office of Civil Defense Director Albert Mogol said the region’s disaster-related measures and assets remain sufficient despite previous successive tropical cyclones.
“Replenishment activities have been completed to ensure that we will have humanitarian relief aid to distribute to those who will be affected by incoming typhoons,” he said.
He said the CDRMMC is closely working with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Public Works and Highways, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau, among others.
He advised residents to preemptively evacuate if they reside in landslide prone areas and to be updated of the weather conditions.
“Put your safety on top of everything,” he said.
The Baguio City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office advised the public to call 911 for any emergency, monitor weather updates from trusted sources, prepare emergency kits, secure residences and limit movements outside of their homes.
Benguet is forecast to experience moderate to heavy rainfall Sunday afternoon to Monday afternoon. (PNA)
