COC filing for BARMM parliamentary elections begins Monday

MANILA – The filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliamentary Elections will begin Monday.

Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chair George Garcia said more military and police forces are deployed to the Bangsamoro region during the filing period which ends November 9.

“Sa pakikipagpulong ng mga local Comelec po namin diyan po sa Bangsamoro, nagdagdag na po ng puwersa ang AFP at PNP. Karagdagang puwersa para lang masigurado na magiging mapayapa ang filing ng certificate of candidacy (During the meeting of our local Comelec there in the Bangsamoro, the Armed Forces of the Philippines and Philippine National Police have deployed additional forces, to ensure that the filing of the certificates of candidacy will be peaceful),” Garcia said in a radio interview Sunday.

Aside from the COCs, the Comelec will also open the filing of List of Nominees and Certificates of Acceptance of Nomination for regional parliamentary political parties.

“We appeal to the candidates for them to police their respective supporters and maintain a COC filing that is orderly, clean, and peaceful,” he said.

A total of 73 BARMM parliamentary seats will be stake during the first BPE on May 12, 2025, also the national and local elections for the rest of the regions. (PNA)
