Child-friendly space inaugurated at Mutya ng Pasig Mega Market

The Child-friendly Space at Mutya ng Pasig Mega Market was officially inaugurated on November 21, 2024, in celebration of the 32nd National Children’s Month.

The event was attended by city officials and key stakeholders, including 50 market vendors and 27 Pasig kids. The opening ceremony began with a doxology performance by 10 children from the San Nicolas Day Care Center. Mayor Vico Sotto gave a special message, commending the City Council for its role in making the project a “success.”

Councilor Syvel Asilo-Gupilan, Chairperson of the Committee on Children’s Affairs of the 11th Sangguniang Panlungsod, led the recitation of the Panatang Makabata. Ms. Ma. Teresa O. Briones, Head of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), also delivered welcoming remarks and shared the inspiration and process behind the creation of the Child-Friendly Space.

The project was initiated by the CSWDO, with support from the Cultural Affairs and Tourism Office and the Market Administration Office, to provide a safe and welcoming environment for young Pasigueños.

Located on the second floor of the Mutya ng Pasig Mega Market (above the rice section), the air-conditioned Child-Friendly Space features a toy area, coloring area, nap area, and separate comfort rooms for males and females.

While the space is open to the public, priority will be given to the children of vendors at the market. Children of customers are also welcome, but availability will depend on the number of visitors on any given day. In the future, Early Childhood Care and Development personnel will be assigned to ensure the quality of care provided to the children.
