MANILA – Gokongwei-led airline Cebu Pacific (CEB) will launch direct flights between Manila and Sapporo in Japan starting January 16, 2025.
The thrice-weekly flights will operate every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
“The launch of this route is a testament to Cebu Pacific’s mission of expanding its international network and making air travel accessible to a wider range of passengers,” CEB President Xander Lao said in a statement Thursday.
The launch will make CEB the only airline with non-stop flights between Manila and Sapporo.
Through direct flights, the travel time will be five hours compared to up to 10 hours via other airlines with layovers.
“We are excited to offer more Filipinos the opportunity to experience the winter charm of Sapporo,” Lao said.
Hokkaido’s capital city is known for the Sapporo Snow Festival every February.
It was also the venue of the first Winter Olympics in Asia in 1972.
Earlier, flag carrier Philippine Airlines also bared its plan to relaunch the Manila-Sapporo flights this year. (PNA)
