By Xander Ledesma

The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has expressed its gratitude for a land donation to the Adlaon Police Community Precinct. Mrs. Paterna Y. Go made the significant contribution, a gesture that was acknowledged by PCOL Antonietto Ybanez CaƱete, the City Director of the CCPO, during a ceremony held on November 22, 2024.

The donated land, located in the Adlaon district of Cebu City, will be used to build the facilities at the Adlaon Police Community Precinct. The precinct serves as a critical police station in one of the city’s vital barangays, which houses a large and diverse population. The land gift will help ensure that the precinct has a permanent base of operations, enhancing its ability to provide effective police services to the community.

PCOL CaƱete praised Mrs. Go for her generosity, noting that the donation is not only a physical gift but also a reinforcement of the partnership between the Cebu City Police Office and the communities it serves. He emphasized that the new facility will provide the Adlaon precinct with the necessary infrastructure to address local challenges, including crime prevention, substance abuse, and community outreach initiatives.

Police Community Precincts (PCPs) are key components of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) community policing strategy, which promotes collaboration between law enforcement and the public to maintain peace and order. The Adlaon precinct, with its mix of urban and rural areas, faces unique challenges in policing, making this donation all the more significant in strengthening its role within the community.

PCOL CaƱete underscored that the Adlaon Police Community Precinct will play an important role in fostering dialogue and cooperation between the police and the community, particularly in an area where residents may feel distant from law enforcement.

This donation is part of a broader culture of civic engagement in Cebu City, where local businesses and citizens have consistently supported public safety initiatives. Mrs. Go’s contribution is expected to have a lasting impact on public safety and community development in the Adlaon area, helping to create a safer and more connected neighborhood.
