MANILA – The social and advocacy arm of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) on Thursday encouraged the faithful to continue working together to bring hope to the church in connection with the celebration of the 2025 Jubilee Year.
In a message, Caritas Philippines president Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo invited everyone to strengthen their faith, spread the message of hope, and reaffirm the commitment to service, compassion, and justice.
“We are reminded that hope is not passive; it calls us to act boldly and faithfully. This year, let us work to ensure that Caritas Philippines remains steadfast in serving the most marginalized and vulnerable,” he said.
The Kidapawan bishop emphasized the church’s mission to preserve nature as part of Jesus Christ’s appeal for all.
“Our collective journey must reflect the Gospel values of truth, love, and integrity, ensuring a future built on the pillars of democracy and human dignity,” he added.
Bagaforo noted that the collaboration of the Church, government, and other sectors of society would help ensure that no one is left behind in society.
“Let us walk together as pilgrims of hope, carrying Christ’s light into the world. May this New Year be a time of renewal, resilience, and unwavering faith,” he said.
On December 24, 2024, Pope Francis opened the Jubilee Year at the Vatican by opening the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Square.
Caritas Philippines added that the spirit of the Jubilee would promote the holistic response of the church to the development of heritage and the promotion of natural and universal consciousness. (PNA)
