Police in the Caraga Region apprehended 40 wanted individuals, including an alleged New People’s Army (NPA) insurgent, during intensified operations from January 1 to 15, the Police Regional Office in Caraga (PRO-13) announced on Friday.

Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano, PRO-13 director, said two of the arrested suspects were on the region’s most wanted list. One of them, identified only by the alias “Babu,” is a 45-year-old alleged member of Guerrilla Front 19-A of the NPA. Babu was apprehended in Lianga, Surigao del Sur, on the strength of multiple warrants for two counts of murder, two counts of frustrated murder, and three counts of attempted murder.

Another high-priority target, a 75-year-old man identified only as “Carlo,” was wanted on rape charges. All suspects are now in the custody of police authorities.

“We attribute the success of these operations to the community’s support and cooperation,” Abrahano said, emphasizing that efforts to coordinate with the public have been instrumental in tracking down wanted persons.
