A diverse group of participants joined the “Walk for Rice” event organized by the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center X (ATI-RTC X) to promote health, agriculture, and community involvement. Held downtown, the event attracted representatives from local government units, national agencies, and private organizations.
Participants included officials from the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC), National Food Authority (NFA), and the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office-10 (DA-RFO 10), among others. The event also featured performances by the Gusa Regional Science High School drum and bugle corps, adding to the day’s vibrant atmosphere.
The Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) ensured smooth logistics and traffic flow throughout the activity, demonstrating strong coordination among city stakeholders. The event emphasized the importance of agriculture in sustaining the community and encouraged greater support for local farmers.
Organizers highlighted the role of sustainable agricultural practices in achieving food security. The Department of Agriculture’s ongoing efforts aim to address challenges such as climate change and fluctuating market conditions, which significantly impact rice production.
Cultural and historical ties to rice farming were also underscored during the event. Rice is a staple food in the Philippines and a cornerstone of the country’s agricultural economy. The initiative aimed to foster awareness about the value of rice farming and the need to support the agricultural sector.
The ‘success’ of the “Walk for Rice” has prompted ATI-RTC X to plan similar activities in the future. These initiatives are expected to strengthen collaboration among government agencies, private sectors, and communities in promoting agricultural development and public health.
