MANILA – The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said Tuesday it has partnered with state enterprise Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Ltd. (AEROTHAI) to boost the communications services in the country.
The two parties signed on Tuesday an agreement in Bangkok, Thailand for the operation and maintenance of VHF (very high frequency) air-ground data link stations in the Philippines.
Currently, the CAAP and AEROTHAI operate seven VHF data link stations, providing air traffic services and airline operational control data link messaging.
The agreement is expected to strengthen the aviation communication infrastructure and services in the Philippines, through the establishment of an upgraded Clark Multi-Service Ground Station, the Kalibo Remote Ground Station (RGS), and a second Manila RGS.
“This agreement goes beyond technicalities; it reflects a unified commitment to excellence in aviation service delivery.” CAAP Director General Manuel Tamayo was quoted as saying.
The partnership, signed by Tamayo and AEROTHAI President Nopasit Chakpitak, shows CAAP’s continuous efforts to enhance aviation standards through international collaboration, the agency said in a news release.
According to AEROTHAI’s website, it has developed air navigation services and airspace management for Thailand. (PNA)
