CAAP invests P12.4-B for modernization

MANILA – The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced Thursday it is allocating PHP12.4 billion for modernization and upgrade works in 2025.

It said PHP10.6 billion is allocated for civil works, while PHP1.8 billion will be for equipment and systems upgrades.

“These efforts align with CAAP’s mission to modernize aviation infrastructure and strengthen the country’s global competitiveness in the aviation sector,” CAAP said in a news release.

In the pilot episode of the Department of Transportation’s radio program on Radyo Pilipinas on Wednesday, CAAP officials underscored the government’s commitment to enhancing airport facilities, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring a safer and more seamless travel experience.

CAAP Director General Manuel Tamayo and Deputy Director General for Administration Danjun Lucas shared that among the prioties in 2025 include the night-rating upgrades of Cauayan, Dipolog, and Pagadian airports, allowing safe and efficient night operations to address increasing air traffic demands.

They also shared that Bukidnon Airport is on track to begin operations for general aviation this year, creating a gateway for local travel and trade.

These modernization efforts, according to CAAP, are projected to boost tourism and trade, enhance airport operations, and improve passenger experiences.

“In the long term, they aim to support economic growth by fostering stronger connectivity across the archipelago,” CAAP said. (PNA)
