CAAP Area Center 8 heightens security for Undas 2024

By David Vera

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Area Center 8 activated its Enhanced Alert Status at Tacloban, Borongan, Calbayog, and Catarman airports under “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos UNDAS 2024.” This initiative, in effect from October 30 to November 5, aims to ensure safe and efficient travel during the UNDAS period.

CAAP established Malasakit help desks staffed by medical and customer service representatives at each terminal. These desks provide assistance, medical support, and information to passengers. Malasakit help kits, containing essentials like bottled water and snacks, are distributed to senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and families with young children.

Security has also been tightened, with the Aviation Security Unit 8 conducting inspections to prevent incidents. UNDAS, or All Saints’ Day, is one of the busiest travel seasons in the Philippines, as families return to their hometowns to honor the deceased. CAAP’s enhanced measures aim to support safe travel and uphold the solemnity of the holiday.
