The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in MIMAROPA has spread holiday cheer to persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) through its “Pamaskong Handog 2024” initiative.
The BJMP Regional Office MIMAROPA, with the support of local jail officials, personnel, and stakeholders, led the event, which featured various activities, including feeding programs, medical checkups, free haircuts, storytelling, games, and gift-giving for PDLs and their children.
BJMP MIMAROPA Information Officer Jail Officer 3 Joefrie Anglo described the initiative as a symbol of hope and unity.
“Ang Pamaskong Handog ng BJMP ay isang simbolo ng pag-asa at pagkakaisa, na sinisigurong walang maiiwan sa pagdiriwang ng panahon ng kapaskuhan,” Anglo said.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the services and gifts, noting that these efforts fostered positivity and motivated them to pursue a better future.
As of this writing, 2,080 PDLs are set to celebrate Christmas and New Year in 19 BJMP-managed facilities across Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan.
