MANILA – Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, and Agrarian Reform Secretary Conrado Estrella III will serve as government caretakers while President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is in a working visit to United Arab Emirates (UAE) this week, Malacañang announced Monday.
Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cesar Chavez said the three officials will form part of the “caretaker committee.”
The PCO earlier announced that the President will embark on a one-day working visit to the Gulf state on Tuesday, with “a high purpose” of bolstering Philippines-UAE ties.
Marcos will meet with his counterpart, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi, which is seen to lead to the signing of agreements that would deepen the ties between the two countries.
Marcos’ accompanying delegation has been trimmed “to the barest minimum” as he looks to immediately return to Manila to resume his “personal supervision and inspection of the relief and reconstruction activities in communities devastated by six successive typhoons,” the PCO noted. (PNA)
