BAYAMBANG, Pangasinan –This progressive town once again pushed the envelope of creativity and innovation by unveiling the first-ever digital projection mapping in Northern Luzon, inspired by the iconic Star Wars movie series.
On November 23, the municipal auditorium was transformed into a stunning scene from a galaxy far, far away, with jaw-dropping digital effects and mechatronic characters like Yoda, C-3PO, Chewbacca, R2-D2, and Skytroopers, and a lot more. The immersive experience truly felt like stepping onto another planet with a message of unity, faith, and celebration.
The much-anticipated Star Wars-themed Paskuhan sa Bayambang brings a spectacular blend of Christmas cheer and galactic wonder to the heart of Pangasinan. The grand launch of the holiday season was marked by dazzling lights, Star Wars-inspired decorations, and a message of unity, faith, and celebration.
Vice Mayor Ian Camille Sabangan opened the event with excitement, thanking the town’s leaders led Mayor Niña Jose Quiambao and her husband, former Mayor Cezar Quiambao, for their continued -dedication to making Bayambang’s Christmas celebrations a memorable experience.
“This is the first month of the holiday season, and that means Christmas is near. Tonight, we’ll witness a special gift—a Star Wars-inspired display—that will make this year’s Paskuhan sa Bayambang truly extraordinary,” Sabangan said.
Former Mayor Cezar Quiambao expressed pride in the event’s evolution. He noted that over the past seven years, Bayambang has grown renowned for its innovative Christmas displays, from animated light shows to the popular Ghibli-inspired Christmas village last year.
This year, the festival takes a digital leap with Star Wars-themed projections, made possible by the Niña Cares Foundation, which he described as a personal gift from Mayor Niña.
“While we understand that some may think this celebration is extravagant, especially given the challenges our neighbors have faced from the pandemic, we believe that Christmas brings hope and joy that we all need right now,” Quiambao said.
Mayor Niña Jose-Quiambao shared her heartfelt message through a recorded video message, highlighting the unique theme of this year’s Paskuhan. She spoke of Bayambang as a place where imagination and reality merge, promising an unforgettable holiday experience for both residents and visitors alike.
The mayor also announced that, starting November 25, the city will distribute noche buena packages to all 42,000 families in Bayambang, ensuring that no household is left behind during the holiday season. She encouraged everyone to enjoy the Christmas trade fair, where local businesses will showcase their products, including delicious delicacies and unique souvenirs.
The opening ceremony concluded with the festive lights illuminating Bayambang’s main square, signaling the start of a holiday season filled with joy, community spirit, and the force of Christmas magic.
“May the force be with you, and may the light of Christ reign in all of us,” Mayor Niña concluded her speech, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.
