BARMM police heighten security amid COC filing for 2025 parliamentary polls

By Sam Ramos

Police in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) have increased security for the ongoing filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) for the region’s parliamentary elections. This marks a critical phase as BARMM prepares for its first regular elections, a milestone in the peace process with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

The establishment of BARMM in 2019 was a product of years of peace negotiations. The upcoming parliamentary elections reflect the region’s shift from an interim to an elected government, further cementing the peace and autonomy efforts aimed at fostering stability in the historically conflict-ridden region of Mindanao.
