Bacolod City hosted its first Pet Training for Kids and Young Adults event on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the Upper East Megaworld Bacolod. The event, aimed at promoting responsible pet ownership, attracted numerous participants eager to learn about pet care and training.
The session was led by expert dog trainer Ms. Spy Dekeling, who introduced attendees to the basics of dog training, with a focus on building positive relationships between young pet owners and their animals. Dekeling emphasized the importance of understanding a dog’s body language, emotions, and needs, while encouraging the use of positive reinforcement and patience.
Designed specifically for children and young adults, the event featured interactive demonstrations and hands-on activities. Participants learned how to engage with their pets in a calm and affectionate manner and were taught techniques for consistent training, socialization, and proper care.
The event, organized by local community groups and pet advocacy organizations, also aimed to raise awareness about adopting animals from shelters and ensuring their long-term care. Local pet shops and grooming services provided information on products and services to improve pets’ quality of life.
The Upper East Megaworld Bacolod, with its spacious and modern facilities, offered an ideal setting for the event, which served as both an educational opportunity and a platform for promoting responsible pet ownership in Bacolod City.
